This is my niece Arayah, aka Ray-Bands. She is 10 years old and loves being in nature. She's been fishing since she was knee high on a grasshopper and went hunting for the first time two years ago.
When I asked Arayah what her favorite apart about nature is, Arayah said, "The fresh air and seeing animals"
Everytime I'm getting my gear ready or loading up the truck there Arayah is, eager eyed and bushy tailed begging me to take her along for the ride. She is one of my favorite road trip buddies and always has good music on the cue. Arayah is always down for an adventure and a dance party! I have loved watching her grow in her knowledge and understanding of the natural world.
Educating the next generation is essential. If we want to ensure that nature is around and change is made to protect our wild places; We MUST educate the youth and inspire all people to get into the outdoors. If we don't, animals will go extinct, wild places will disappear and sooner or later there will be nothing left.
I encourage you to take a youth with you next time you're planning a trip in nature. Who knows, you might spark a passion they have for the outdoors.
