Chasing Turkeys | Early Season

4/13 - 4/22/2022

📍Unadilla, Nebraska.

Over the course of a little over a week in April I was able to:

- Scout for Turkeys with Zach. Where we bumped into the birds as they were working to their roosting trees.

- Do a morning sit. I set up on the tree line that the birds were roosting in. I completely dropped the ball though because I got to the spot too late. The Turkeys were gobbling their heads off at me from the trees letting me now that there was no way they would work my direction.

- Took my niece (Arayah) with me during a morning sit. This time I made sure we got to our spot with plenty of darkness. We did not get any Turkey action but we did see a Rooster (male Pheasant) and found the head of a calf that must’ve been picked off by coyotes.

Every time I went out I learned more about Turkeys. How they move, when they move and why. I’m very hopeful that I will be able to fill my tag this year even if it comes down to the last minutes of light!
